After the reform and opening up, one after another miracle has been created inChina. Despite the fact that China is a vast territory with rich resources, along with theeconomic and social development, rapid development of industrialization andurbanization with the contradiction between energy resources and the ecologicalenvironment is increasingly prominent, development is not balanced between urbanand rural areas and between industry and industrial. Energy, resources andenvironmental constraints are more and more prominent. We must change theeconomic growth mode so that social sustainability can be achieved. Sustainabledevelopment emphasizes the development process of persistence, continuity andrenewability. Sustainable development is harmonious development of economic,social, population, resources and environment. The development of the society shouldbe controlled within the scope of the bearing capacity of resources and environment,Safeguards the sustainable use of natural ecological resources, achieve the sustainabledevelopment of society.Sichuan province is located in the southwest of China, whichhas an importantstrategic position in the Chinese Western Great Development. However, facing thenew situation and the severe domestic and international environment,relying heavilyon energy resources consumption in Sichuan province and unreasonable growth oflabor input, is detrimental to achieve the goal of maintain sustainable development.Accelerating the transformation of the existing unreasonable ways of economicdevelopment to achieve sustainable development of Sichuan province has a strongsense of urgency and of great practical significance. Besides,changing economicdevelopment mode in Sichuan Province, achieving the Sustainable development ofenvironment-friendly，resource conservation and social harmony, can provide thedevelopment train of thinking of transformation of economic development mode toachieve the sustainable development for the other inland provinceBased on the transformation of the economic development mode and Sustainable development astheoretical support, this article mainly adopts the research methods of literatureconsultation, comparative analysis,empirical study, describes the current situations ofSichuan province since the reform and opening up, and then analyzesthe problemsthat the existing pattern of economic development of Sichuan province hinder thesustainable development. According to the current situation and the causes, this paperputs forward the countermeasures to promote the transformation of economicdevelopment mode to achieve the sustainable development in Sichuan province. SinceChina’s reform and opening up, Sichuan province’s comprehensive strength enhancedgreatly. The effects of industrial structure adjustment are very oblivious.Science andtechnology innovation ability is constantly improved. Energy conservation,consumption reduction and environmental protection have gained remarkableachievements, and people’s living standards improved significantly. However, thereare also many problemsat the same time of development,which have severelyrestricted the economic development in Sichuan province, and are detrimental topromote all-round, balanced and sustainable development of thesociety and to achievethe goal of maintain sustainable development. The problems arelarge population,residents of low income, the unfairness of income distribution, imbalance of economydevelopment, inadequacy human capital, hugeemployment pressure,underdevelopment oftechnology innovation, low resource utilization, seriousenvironmental pollution, for instance. In order to achieve sustainable development,Sichuan province has to change the mode of economic development. We shouldestablish a sustainable development concept, and then deepen the reform system,optimizing and transferring governmental function. We also should optimize andreadjust economic structure, increase national income，expand domestic demand, andenhancethe compatibility and sustainability of development.Last but not least, weshould promote coordinated development of industry, strengthen integration oftechnology and society, build a resources-conserving and environment-friendlysociety，advance ecological civilization construction, developmodern education ofpeople-orientation,expandemployment opportunities to achieve diversification ofemployment, advancesocialization of public service,and improve the social securitysystem.
