Nowadays, China is in the turning point when agriculture industry will gradually shift from the experience or resources-based traditional agriculture to modern knowledge-based agriculture in which knowledge will become the controlling resources and decisive production factor. Under this background, this paper chooses Chengdu as research target which was approved to be national coordinating urban and rural comprehensive reform pilot area in2007, and random sample some agricultural cooperatives from different development zone, in order to make systematic theoretical analysis and empirical research on the knowledge management in rural area.The theories of knowledge management and knowledge network are reviewed systematically, which provides a theoretical basis for the paper to study economic development in rural area from the perspectives of knowledge network and knowledge competence. By looking back through the literature of knowledge management, the paper puts forward a new definition of knowledge of agricultural cooperatives and analyzes its characteristic and elements.Then, the paper explores the necessity of knowledge management enforced by agricultural cooperatives in accordance with the reality of Chengdu’s economic development, indicating that importing knowledge from outside rather than creating knowledge inside has become the main obstacle for the economic development in rural area.In the empirical research part, this article uses SPSS software to demonstrate the immanence mechanism between18independent variable and knowledge management effect, through questionnaire survey that we get effective sample80of90real delivered questionnaires. The empirical results show that this18independent variable can be instead of six common factors that we put forward in the hypothesis, and prove the order that six common factor influences on the knowledge management effect, which is leader support factor of agricultural cooperatives、characteristic factor of knowledge deliver、characteristic factor of knowledge receiver、infrastructure factor、Knowledge itself characteristic factor and factor of rural culture.At last, the paper puts forward approaches and relevant strategy measures for rural growth by accordance with the practice of Chengdu.
