The Evolution And Influencing Factors Of The Region’s Export Sophistication

Prevalent in the perfection of the global production networks and globaloutsourcing, originally technologically backward country may export a higher level oftechnology products, the size of the export scale has not fully and truly reflect thesubstance of the technical level of a country’s export trade. Not excluding the value ofimports of intermediate goods, commonly used to quantify the form of final productexport sophistication index exists the problem of―statistical illusion‖and ignore the―characteristics‖, from the objective facts of China’s significant geographicaldifferences, simply transnational the analysis concluded did not get the degree ofvalidation of the internal region’s exports sophistication in China.In this paper, based on the theory, and learn from the results of previous studies,in-depth analysis of the characteristics and influencing factors of the evolution of thesophistication of regional exports. First of all, to collate and summarize the existingliterature of quantitative methods and influencing factors on the sophistication of theexport and proposal of building a regional export sophistication index, and found thatthe level of financial development has become the latest research perspective on theexport sophistication of influencing factors. Secondly, the region export sophisticationindex by calculating to understand the evolution characteristics. Again, based on thetheoretical analysis of influencing factors of the region’s exports sophistication, allregions of the sample and the region are grouped according to the eastern, central,western empirical verification. Finally, proposed the path of enhance the regionalexports sophistication.Throughout the text of the main draw the following conclusions: Firstly, tounderstand the sophistication of the dynamic evolution characteristics of exportproducts, industries and regions by determination of the2002-2008provincialregional exports sophistication index. Export product sophistication showingcontinuously improve and with the industry attribute; export industries havesignificant heterogeneity, and with the passage of time each industry exports increased complexity, but the gap presents gradual widening trend; region exports sophisticationdifferences are strong.The region export sophistication index and per capita GDPhave positive correlation between the high level of economic development of theregion corresponding to the high the regional exports sophistication index, theregional export level of sophistication and the actual economic development level isadapt, not the circumstances―Rodrik paradox‖. Second, the main factors to affectChina’s export level of sophistication to enhance internal accumulation of knowledgeand technology of FDI overflow, as well as regional financial development level andregional infrastructure service level of service factors. Third, the level of the regionalfinancial development is significant enhance the level of the eastern, central andwestern regions export sophistication. Fourth, the increase in foreign directinvestment is indeed driven to enhance the eastern region export sophistication, butthe internal factors enhance the driving force to pull the sophistication of the region’sexports. Fifth, the main promote factors of the central region from internal rather thanexternal, FDI technology spillover effect does not significantly promote the centralregion exports sophistication. Sixth, the important factor in stimulating the westernregion exports complexity gradually increase: the process of regional financialmarkets, the gradual improvement of the region’s infrastructure and the increase in theactual use of foreign direct investment, external factors that are important to promotethe western region exports increased complexity reasons.
