The Regional Differentiation Of China’s Urbanization Level And Its Influencing Factors

With the continuous development and progress of the economic and social, the position of urbanization has become more and more important, urbanization has become a key constraints in a national or regional economic growth and social progress. In the construction of urbanization in our country, due to the influence of factors such as geographical location, economic level, policy orientation and cultural differences, different regions and different provinces in our country presents different characteristics and the phenomenon of regional differentiation in urbanization process is emerging. It has become an important factor of restricting the regional coordinated development. In the future development of urbanization process, how to promote the rapid development of different types of urbanization regions, how to balance the development of different types of urbanization regions, how to make the urbanization development among different regions to contact and promote each other, all are the keys to solve the problem. So it is necessary to research on regional differentiation of urbanization and to summarize the advantages and disadvantages of different types of urbanization regions.This paper basing on the interpretation of the regional differentiation phenomenon of urbanization development in our country, according to the characteristics of different urbanization regions, on the perspectives of regional disparity, urban and rural development,space layout, function and so on bases, had comprehensive divided our country’s urbanization into mature region (a total of 10 provinces), developmental region(a total of 11 provinces) and growing region(a total of 10 provinces) three major categories, and based on the perspective of dynamic mechanism, used panel data analysis method, examines the four power factor’s influence on the regional differentiation of urbanization in our country, summed up the causes of the regional differentiation. Finally, using the related data, this paper selected the marketization index, the proportion of the added value of secondary and tertiary industry to GDP, urban and rural income ratio and total import and export (log) four indicators as explanatory variables, to return to the explained variables——urbanization rate, drew the following conclusions.The different effect that dynamic mechanism plays is an important reason of regional differentiation of urbanization level. There are numerous reasons of regional differentiation of China’s urbanization, but this article mainly bases on the perspective of dynamic mechanism to explain the reason of regional differentiation of urbanization. There is a great difference of dynamic mechanism in different urbanization regions. The degree of marketization, the industrial structure and the degree of opening all have obvious positive effect on urbanization rate, at the same time, the comparison advantage between urban and rural has obvious negative effect on urbanization rate. The leading role from large to small of four power factors on the urbanization level are:the level of opening, the comparison advantage between urban and rural, the degree of marketization and the industrial structure. Among them, the developmental region and growing region with the lower degree of marketization and the lower level of opening, can drive the improvement of urbanization level more through accelerating the process of marketization and raising the level of opening; the leading role of industrial structure transformation is not too obvious, because the dividends of industrial structure transformation has played most in early; in the developmental region with less obvious comparison advantage between urban and rural, the interests of urban compared to rural plays smaller, it will has less contribution to the urbanization level.This paper’s structure is as follows:Chapter 1:introduction. As the guide part, this chapter made the paper clear on the problems like the background, research significance, research review, main content and methods, the innovation and shortage and so on. Chapter 2:related concepts and theoretical basis. Some terminology and its scope used in this paper were defined and relevant theories and historical process of China’s urbanization were reviewed. Chapter 3:qualitative description about the regional differentiation phenomenon of China’s urbanization level. This chapter systematically described the regional differentiation phenomenon of China’s urbanization level, classified the urbanization region type, and analyzed the causes of regional differentiation from the perspective of dynamic mechanism. Chapter 4:an empirical analysis of influence factors of China’s urbanization regional differentiation——based on the perspective of dynamic mechanism. It used the yearly data of 31 provinces from 2005 to 2012, set up a panel data model, carried on the empirical analysis to the causes of the urbanization regional differentiation. Chapter 5:conclusion. The results were analyzed, policy suggestions were put forward.
