Research On The Impact Of Global Value Chain Embedding On The Transformation And Upgrading Of China's Equipment Manufacturing Industry

The global economy is facing the new situation,the evolution of the global innovation model,the breakthrough in the new industrial revolution and other new trends in the domestic and international environments have led China’s Equipment Manufacturing Industry(EMI)to achieve sustainable development only if it accelerates its transformation and upgrading.In recent years,the Global Value Chain(GVC)has shown a new feature of "Fragmentation" and "Modularity".The degree of international vertical specialization has been constantly increasing.The developed countries firmly hold the high-end strategic segment of EMI.There is no voice of the developing countries about the key segment in the industry chain.Therefore,research on the impact of GVC embeddedness on the transformation and upgrading of China’s EMI plays a crucial role in enhancing the international competitiveness of China’s EMI and accelerating the transformation and upgrading of China’s EMI.Based on the theories of GVC,embeddedness and industrial transformation and upgrading,this paper systematically expounds the impact mechanism of GVC embeddedness on the transformation and upgrading of China’s EMI.Based on the development issues of China’s EMI,this paper further builds an index system to evaluate the effect of Chin’s EMI transformation and upgrading,and empirically tests the effect of GVC embeddedness on the transformation and upgrading of EMI through theoretical modeling.The main contents of this paper are as follows:Firstly,the author summarizes and concludes the relevant literature about the embeddedness of GVC and the transformation and upgrading of China’s EMI,puting forward the issues to be further studied.Secondly,basing ourselves on the data of China’s EMI,we deeply analyze the current situation of the EMI and indicate its development dilemma.Thirdly,caculate the GVC index of China’s EMI,the embeddedness degree of GVC,and deconstruct the index of participating GVC about China’s EMI.Fourthly,through the analysis of the present situation and predicament of the development of China’s EMI,combined with the GVC participation and embeddedness of China’s EMI,we seek the path of transformation and upgrading of China’s EMI,explain the influence mechanism behind this path,and lay a solid theoretical foundation for the model.Fifth,based on the current situation analysis and mechanism analysis of China’s EMI,this paper discuss the impact of GVC embeddedness on the transformation and upgrading of China’s EMI.Including building an evaluation system for the transformation and upgrading of China’s EMI and establishing a regression model of the impact of the GVC embeddedness on the transformation and upgrading of China’s EMI.Sixth,combined with the development of China’s EMI,the situation of GVC embeddedness,the effect of China’s EMI in the process of embeddedness the GVC,discuss the strategy of China’s EMI transfomation and upgrading.This paper uses the literature-analyzed method,comparative analysis method,multivariate statistical analysis method and theoretical modeling method.Draws the following main conclusions:Firstly,the rapid development of China’s EMI,but gradually highlight the plight of industrial restructuring.Secondly,China’s EMI has a very high degree of "backward participation" in the GVC.Its embedded GVC is characterized by "middle and low technology industry is high-end embedding,high technology industry is low-end embedding".Thirdly,the impact mechanism of GVC embeddedness on the transformation and upgrading of China’s EMI is mainly realized through the interaction effect of "technology spillover" effect,"learning by doing"effect,competition effect,trade structure interact with industrial structure.Fourthly,China’s EMI mainly includes the following four transformation and upgrading routes:R&D-based upgrade path,market-based upgrade path,production-based upgrade path,and the radical innovation upgrade path.Fifthly,the transformation and upgrading effects of China’s EMI continue to improve.The transformation and upgrading of high-tech industries are superior to those of low-tech industries.Sixthly,deepening of the GVC embeddedness can promote the transformation and upgrading of China’s EMI.At the same time,the deepening of industrialization,the decline of industry concentration,the enhancement of the effect of "technology spillover" and the improvement of the quality of human capital are favorable China’s EMI transformation and upgrading.
