Vehicle monitoring system is an important part in the intelligent traffic management,integrating geographic information system technology, positioning technology, databasetechnology and communication technology. It has received more and more attention from thetransportation department and the safety management department. Gradually it has become ahot research direction in the field of traffic management, particularly in the field of carmonitor. Since the drivers often overload, so they choose to make a detour in order to avoidthe check of the traffic personnel, which leads to the traffic accidents. Therefore, the vehiclemonitoring system is endowed with important research value and brings forward theapplications socio-economic benefits. Vehicle terminal is an important part of the Vehiclemonitoring system. The topic of the vehicle terminal in this thesis is from "VehicleMonitoring System" project of a company in Shanghai, which is developed to meet therequirement in the field of the long-distance bus. The thesis mainly focused on the design anddevelopment of the function of the vehicle terminal.This Thesis presents the overall design scheme of vehicle terminal system, on the basisof this schemes, it analyzes the system works and makes a detailed introduction of relevantkey technology. In terms of the hardware system design, the thesis analyzes and compares thecurrent and popular vehicle terminal application such as51, AVR, ARM series ofmicrocontrollers and adopts the ARM series microcontrollers STM32. Compared with othermicrocontrollers, STM32is characterized by being cost-effective, powerful, and real-time.These features are very suitable for the field of vehicle terminal development.Based on the general design of the hardware system, the thesis introduces the design ofthe power supply circuit, the GPS module, the GPRS module design and the imageacquisition module design in detail. In the aspect of software system design, the author buildsand transplants μC/OS-II real-time operating system and designed GPS positioning, imageacquisition, GPRS remote data transmission and other functions on the basis of the operatingsystem. The GPS positioning data reception, analysis, image data collection is realized, andthrough the GPRS remote connection between vehicle terminal and monitoring center,terminal sent the collected location data and the image data to the monitoring center throughTCP/IP protocol. In order to achieve the real-time data transmission when the GPRSnetwork is instable, the auxiliary way of SMS is finally designed.The vehicle terminal for long-distance bus designed in this thesis achieves the GPSvehicle positioning, real-time image acquisition, data transmission and SMS messagetransmission. It performs well in the actual test and achieves the expected effect.
