With the development of the Beidou satellite navigation system, the satellite navigation has developed rapidly in transportation industry. As an necessary equipment of road transport vehicles, vehicle monitoring and management system mainly consists of satellite navigation technology, advanced information technology and computer technology. It is so comprehensive, real-time, accurate and efficient in monitoring and management of transport vehicles that reduce traffic accidents and improve transport efficiency and transport safety. As core components of vehicle monitoring and management system, Beidou/GPS car terminal are capable of providing a comprehensive vehicle navigation and high-quality service.We developed a vehicle monitoring and management system based on Beidou/GPS terminals in this paper. It is able to provide vehicle satellite navigation and positioning services anytime and anywhere. At the same time it can provide important assistance for some transport companies in real-time vehicle monitoring and management. The main research contents:1?The Design of The Beidou/GPS vehicle terminal. The main task of Beidou /GPS car terminal is to collect data of vehicles, it includes the power module, BeiDou /GPS positioning module, ARM processor module, communication module, etc. The design of each part takes the idea of modular. At the same time, we designed a professional oil detection module. It is connected to the IIC interface of the vehicle terminal to achieve transmission of the oil data.2?GPRS FEP. GPRS FEP is the communication part of the system, its job is to achieve the communication between the terminal and the vehicle monitoring system, and to monitor the system up and running process. The design of GPRS FEP is presented in two parts:the first part for the Beidou/GPS vehicle terminal and GPRS communication between front process; the second part is the process of communication and data transmission between FEP and GPRS monitoring and management platform. 3?Monitoring and Management Center. The design of the monitoring and management platform is based on the B/S structure, and the electronic map is designed by Web GIS technology. Through the network platform, you can always see the trajectory of the vehicle, fuel status, fuel status, vehicle alarm, vehicle tracking, vehicle positioning and send control commands to the vehicle, etc. Allowing users to monitor and manage the vehicle more easily and real-time.The system has been tested by time, and put into actual operation. The experimental results show that the system is safe, stable performance, full-featured, scalable, easy to maintain, and is fully able to meet the basic needs of road transport. At the same time, it can effectively improve vehicle efficiency and the enterprise level on vehicle monitoring and management.
