Networking is an important indicator of high-end numerical control machine tool. Fieldbus is used to connect numerical control device, servo drivers and I/O units in numericalcontrol system. Meanwhile, Ethernet is used to link numerical control machine tools networkto build a set of network manufacturing, remote diagnostics and maintenance in one modernmanufacturing system, which is one of the futures of numerical control machine tooldevelopment trend. As a result, in the digital communication environment of numericalcontrol system, it’s of great importance to study network interconnection, network topologyand conversion, as well as fault diagnosis. On the basis of NCUC-Bus numerical controlmachine tool, the research is outspread around network interconnection in this paper.The architectures and communication principles of NCUC-Bus field bus and Ethernet arestudied. What’s more, combined with the network communication platform of numericalcontrol system, the TCP/IP protocols are in depth analysis. One kind of conversion modebetween the NCUC-Bus and TCP/IP is designed and the network interconnection device isproposed to design.With DSP and FPGA adopted as the kernel processors, the communication platform thatsupports the NCUC-Bus and Ethernet is designed, which is used to implement the transferbetween NCUC-Bus and Ethernet. It’s applied in the control system performance analysis andoptimization of motion of numerical control machine tool via servo data acquisition and servoparameters transfer.On the basis of analyzing the common field bus topology and topology discoverytechnology, the reconstruction technique of NCUC-Bus data link is proposed to implement themethod that supports star network, ring network and mixed network, as well as the data linklayer topology discovery.On the basis of studying the NCUC-Bus communication data link detection and faultlocation, one method of NCUC-Bus real-time topology reconstruction is implemented on themulti-function network interconnection device, which is helpful to improve thecommunication reliability and is convenience to locate and rule out the fault of thecommunication data link.A few experiments of multifunctional network interconnection device are built on thisdevice. Besides, the functions of the network communication, the network topology discovery and conversion are verified and analyzed, as well as the communication reliability.The design based on the NCUC-Bus of network interconnection device has been appliedin the HNC-8high-grade numerical control system, which has obtained good results. Itsvalidity and reliability meet the design requirements.
