Design Explorations Based On Sinicism Of The Plate-type Solid Wood Furniture

Nowadays, the domestic forest resources become scarcer and the situation of shortage of wood supply has become a concern to many people. It is a stern reality for solid wood furniture enterprises, as they imitate the antique solid wood furniture blindly which is lack of innovation. The plate-type solid wood furniture discussed in this paper is a new idea based on this phenomenon. The author proposes that it is necessary to produce the products which can meet the markets and consumers demands through the transformation in processing technology, production equipment and the hardware by which they can make plate-type solid wood furnitures with traditional Chinese characteristic. In this article, the author started with the status quo of panel furnitures and solid wood furnitures by analysing the advantage of panel furniture character. Meanwhile, the writer takes the northern European furniture design as an example and expounds the development trend of solid wood furniture plate and its impact on domestic solid wood furniture; Then, the author summarizes the traditional Chinese furniture culture and analyzes the feasibility of traditional culture applied to the manufacturing from four aspects such as the audience and market. The author also puts forward some suggestions and expectations for the design with Chinese traditional culture elements of modern panel furniture."What ethnic is what worldwide" and there is a long way for the experts to go.
