With the rapid development of automobile industry, household electrical andconstruction industry and so on in domestic, the market are in urgent need of largequantities of metal wire products with high precision in bending. The traditional wirebending machine with MCU or PLC as the control core, has deficiencies in the aspectsof structure and motion control, and it can not meet the requirements of processing inhigh precision. So it is of great application value to design a control system ofnumerical control wire bending machine with high control accuracy. Combining withthe development way of open numerical control system, the control scheme of“PC+motion controller” is selected, and the main contributions are as follows:Firstly, according to the principle of metal wire forming, the process of severaltypes of metal wire is analysed, and the calculation method of corresponding parametersis given. By comparing the design scheme, the key components of wire bendingmachine has been designed.Secondly, according to the process requirements of wire bending which iscontrolled by the wire bending machine, the control part of3D numerical control wirebending machine has been designed. Siemens SIMOTION C240motion controller isselected as the core of motion controlling and the motor model of each motion axes arematched by calculating the motor parameter. And the corresponding model of motordrive is chosen, as well as the measuring element. The I/O circuit of motion controllerand the feedback loop of control system are designed, and some necessary measures against interference are taken.Finally, based on the Windows operating system, the software of Siemens Scoutand WinCC used as the development platform, the design of software system has beenfinished. The computer management program has been developed and the motioncontrol program has been written in the Scout platform, to realize controlling the speedand angle of the servo motor on the motion axes precisely. The simulation experimentof synchronous control has been done based on the strategy of synchronous control.
