Acid mordant dyes are a kind of important dye to wool fiber. It has good colorfastness, especially suitable for black, navy blue, deep blue and so on. However in theacid mordant dyeing process, dyeing residual liquid had medium chrome, fiber wasdamaged, and wastewater treatment was difficult, environmental pollution was seriousand high energy consumption. Focus on these problems of acid mordant dyeing, firstof all, the solute of the wool in the dyeing process, and the other factors werediscussed. The results showed that the soluble protein of the wool was dropped in theheat treatment process. And it affected the asoption of potassium dichromate to wool.In addition, mordant dyes in the residual bath, mordanting temperature and mordantdyeing time affected the concentration of chrome of the residual liquid. So enhancingdye up-take, rising the mordant temperature, extending the mordant time were used toreduce the residual liquid chromium content, and reduce pollution.Secondly, Cationic duck feather protein agent was prepared by duck featherprotein and homemade reactive cationic crosslinking modification agent WLS. T hewool fiber was modified by the agent, the adsorption property of the modified woolfiber to chromium was determined, and the optimizing preparation process of thecationic duck feather protein was choosed: the mass ratio of the duck feather proteinpowder and the reactive cationic crosslinking modification agent WLS was1:20, thesodium hydroxide was4%to the weight of the reactive cationic crosslinkingmodification agent WLS, then stirred for3h. The cationic duck feather proteinadditive was prepared as a low chrome dying agent of acid mordant dyes. Then, the wool fiber was modified with low chrome dyeing agent. The dyesup-take, and the chrome content of the residual liquid, and levelness, and rubbingfastness and colour fastness were determined and the parameter of the modificationand dyeing condition was got. The results showed that the cationic protein additivewas30%(owf), sodium carbonate was6%(owf), bath ratio1:30, in60℃modificated40min, then washed. The wetting modified wool fiber was put into the path: X%(owf)dyes,3%(owf) HAc, bath ratio1:30, dyed30min in80℃, then the formic acid2% (owf) was added, and mordanted for40min. The dying process was accomplished. Theresults showed that, the wool fiber was modificated with the cationic protein agent in60℃. And the modified wool dyeing and mordant temperature was80℃, and therubbing and wash fastness was not affected. The potassium dichromate quantity wasreduced, and the dyeing cycle was shorted, and the process was simple, and thedamange to the wool was little, and the energy consumptionwas lowered. It wassignificance to the acid mordant dyeing.Last, the molecular weight and the infrared spectrum chart of the cation proteinagent were tested with GPC and FTIR. The apparent property and the adsorptionproperty to the wool of the agent were analysed. The results showed that the additivewas shallow brown, tasteless, soluble in water and the agent had absorptionperformance to the ultraviolet. The pH value was5.215(the concentration was10g/L).The agent contained cationic. From the GPC, the molecular weight was about300Da.From the infrared spectrogram analysis, the synthetic product contained cationicgroup and structure of proteins and was the target product. The adsorption processconformed to the secondary dynamics model. The adsorption mechanism conformedto Langmuir (Langmuir) type adsorption isotherm, and the adsorption to the woolfiber belonged to the chemical adsorption, electrostatic attraction was the main force, and Van der Waals force and hydrogen bond force were existed also, and in the lowtemperature it got very high adsorption rate, therefore the adsorption of the cationicprotein agent on the wool could be relized in low temperature. All of all, synthesis of cationic protein additives had good affinity on the woolfiber. The wool fiber could be modified in low temperature. And the agent couldrealize the low chrome dyeing with acid mordant dyes to the wool fiber. It was a kindof ecological friendly low temperature and low chrome dyeing assistan, and helpfulfor waste protein in the use of resources.
