Coal is the important energy and raw materials of our country, and it plays a veryimportant strategic position of the national economy. As the country of the ifrst coalproduction, the safety of coal mine in our country is in poor condition. The death rate of ourco’untrys coal mine accidents is the highest of the main coal mining countries in the world. In2009,the mortality of millions of tons of coal is nearly sixty times that of the United Statesand is six times that of India. The paper analyses the status of the advance of science andtechnology and coal mine safety of mine SZ. Based on the summarizing of related researchstatus at home and abroad, it quantitatively studies the relationship between the advance ofscience and technology and coal mine safety of mine SZ and puts forward the suggestions tofurther improve coal mine safety. The main research work and conclusions of this paper are asfollows:(1)It introduces the basic information of mine SZ. It analyses the status of the advanceof science and technology and coal mine safety of mine SZ from the aspects of the input ofscience and technology, the number of security incidents, the output of coal, the profit, staffper capita income of every year.(2)The paper gives the empirical study on the relationship between the science andtechnology progress and coal mine safety of mine SZ. It establishes the co-integration modeland error correction model of the mortality of one million tons of coal, the investment ofscience and technology innovation and the awards of science and technology. The empiricalresult shows that whenever the log of the annual investment of the science and technologyinnovation increases1%, the log of the mortality of ten thousands coal will fall by0.895620%;whenever the log of the annual awards of science and technology increases1%,the log of themortality of ten thousands coal will fall by2.222606%. Further study shows that LNTEC is the granger cause of LNMOR,and LNMON is also the granger cause of LNMOR. Theinvestment of science and technology and the awards of science and technology are partcauses of the change of the mortality of the ten thousand tons coal.(3) Based on the results of the empirical research and the status of mine SZ,the paperputs forward seven suggestions to further improve the advance of science and technology andcoal mine safety of mine SZ.
