Drilling is one of the most important processes in the metal cutting. So the manufacturing andprocessing of drills are particularly important. This article describes a control system of flute grindingmachine for machining straight shank twist drill spiral groove based on CNC.First of all, the article determines the overall program according to the processing requirements. Ituses servo system and CNC to build a semi-closed loop axis linkage control system in order tocomplete workpiece infeed and indexing and grinding wheel interpolation. At the same time, itincreases a wheel dresser axis for dressing grinding wheel profile in real time to ensure the quarlity. The system selected the Delta H4C-M CNC system and the supporting servo motor and drive andcompleted machine electrical circuit layout, including power circuit, electrical connections of CNCand servo drive, input and output signals, selection of components and the connections of machineauxiliary signals. The program of the required function and movement control has been written in theDelta embedded PLC platform as well as M-codes. In addition, interactive interface and CNCmachining program code is developed according to the demand for processing. So it can complete theautomatic processing of the workpiece with the CNC operator panel. Finally, debug in the workshopat the end of completing CNC and servo system parameter settings, as well as the connection ofhydraulic solenoid valves and mechanical assist device installation. After achieving CNC control, the equipment has been put into use in production workshop, thesystem works well and greatly improves the production efficiency and the pass rate of products.
