The oil resource is an important strategic resource for the people’s livelihood and an important factor of the economic development of our country. In order to meet the needs of oil depot management and improve the production efficiency and safety of oil depot. designing an advanced, practical, automation and stable automation system suitable for oil depot is an engineering technology problem urgently needed to resolve.In this paper, the DCS system for an oil depot in Guangzhou is taken as the object of study. Through analyzing the oil depot process, contents, construction of oil depot automation system, this paper discusses the application of Siemens PCS7system in oil depot automation system from several aspects:the overall design, hardware configuration, software configuration and the programming and the third party communication.Automation system take Siemens PCS7system as the hardware and software platform. Based on analyzing the process and content of oil depot production, I program the tank farm monitoring and fire protection system and configure the man-machine interface, and realize the third party system of communication.Finally, an oil depot automation system with high stability, good opening,good operation and strong stability is constructedThe oil depot automation system in this paper has been put into use with stable operation, comprehensive functions, so as to guarantee the stable and efficient production operations of oil depot.
