With the increase of the dump height of the Sixth Truck Organization in Gongchangling Mining Company, the stability has become an urgent and outstanding problem as its first terrace slope have cracked. However, the first pelletizing plant was located at the foot of the dump, once instability appeared, it would affect the normal production and cause a huge amount of economic losses of the company. Combining with the actual, this paper has carried out a systematic study on the stability of the dump.Based on the survey of the dump engineering geological and hydrogeological site by site and the data provided by the company, we got the slope occurrence, strata distribution, etc. The same type engineering analoging of dump, we caught the physical and mechanical properties of dump material.In this paper, on the basis of the comprehensive analysis of tests’ data, field reconnaissance and parameters, we established the model by ANSYS. According to the physical and mechanical parameters of bedrock, material, and the ANSYS model, the simulation analysis on the stability of two steps and the limit of height of the dump were conducted. Taking the reality of mine into consideration, we put forward the production management and hazard control measures at end.Results of simulation and analyses of existing mine, the stability coefficient equals to1.09. The first step has been unstable, and potential slip surface was seated in13.3m distance from the edge of the first step.
