The demands of manufacturing assembly automation promote the development ofthe virtual assembly simulation technology. With the rapid development of computertechnology the virtual assembly technology has made great development. Through thevirtual simulation environment of product assembly process simulation we can verifythe rationality of the design parts, validate assembling products, optimize theassembly process of the product, Inspection characteristics of the product and conductproduct training. So that it improves production efficiency, the enterprise economicbenefit and competition ability and reduces the assembly costs. On this background,we used virtual assembly simulation technology and developed a virtual simulationsystem based on Virtools software in this paper. And we analyzed some keytechnologies of system implementation.First, we designed the function structure of the system based on System use caseanalysis. Then, we introduced the functions of the system, the working process of thesystem and Key technologies adopted by the system.Based on the analysis results of assembly information requirements, thehierarchical model and the relational model, we established mixed assemblyinformation model in this paper. It can meet the information demands of systemassembly sequence planning, assembly path planning and collision interferenceactivities.According to assembly sequence planning in virtual assembly, this paperproposed the algorithm of assembly sequences based on disassembly ideological. Inthis paper we defined the integration disassembly matrix to describe the disassemblyconstraint relations between parts. We put forward a tree as disassembly parts storagestructure, and produced the disassembly sequence generation algorithm. In the finalwe established the disassembly sequence evaluation model to find out the optimalassembly sequence.Assembly path planning is a basic function of virtual assembly system. We usedthe methods of recording the parts position and posture of a series of key points torealize parts assembly path planning. In order to ensure reality of virtual assemblyscene and to prevent parts model from penetrate in assembly process, we analyzedseveral common interference checking algorithm of virtual simulation system anddeveloped a method to solve the interference problem in the system based on Virtools.At last, we introduced the system implementation in Virtools in this paper. We verified the correctness of the system function and proofed the feasibility of thevirtual assembly key technology introduced in this paper by a specific assemblymodel.
