On some special occasions, it’s very important for people to wear a pair of stab-resistant shoes to protect their feet, for example people who. work in construction plant, privates who walk in jungle, workers who have to wade into water etc.. The most common stab-resistant shoes used those days are made of shoe soles with steel plate inside. Even though the steel plate could help to reduce the cost of the stab-resistant shoes, it also makes the shoe soles too stiffer and airtight to wear that feet may get tired or even get hurt.On these grounds, this paper study on the method to fabrication stab-resistant shoe by high strength fabric and the properties of the shoe. First, we discuss the influences of yarn stab-resistance, including twist of yarn, volume fraction of SiO2/PEG200fluid, angle of the spike and number of the testing yarns. Based on the yarn stab-resistance testing results, choose certain kind of yarns to weave fabric. Then we test the stab-resistance of fabrics with different pick counts and fabric structures, according to the test results,we choose the ones with better stab-resistance to fabrication stab-resistant shoe. According to the demands of stab-resistance and comfort, we laminate the elected fabrics in different ways and test them, then choose some of them to make vamp and sole. After that, use coated-seaming method to develop stab-resistant shoe. Last, obtain available testing methods and characterization parameters by analyzing the properties of stab-resistant shoe. This paper obtains the following results from the above researches:(1) Influences of yarn stab-resistance and the analyses:the trend of yarn twist-spike strength curve is nonlinear, the value of yarn spike force first goes up then comes down as the twist becomes bigger. So yarn has an optimum spike twist, for733.3dtex polyester yarn, the optimum spike twist is120twist/10cm,for590.5dtex polysulfonamide yarn, the optimum spike twist is100twist/10cm, for393.6dtex polysulfonamide yarn, the optimum spike twist is55twist/10cm.(2) SiO2/PEG200fluid can penetrate into the yarn, increase the friction between fibers and yarns, improve the spike-resistance of yarn. Spike angle has some influences on spike-resistance of yarn, the smaller the spike angle is, the easier will the yarn break takes place. The number of yarns been spiked has some influence on average yarn spiking force, the average yarn spiking force tend to reduce as more yarns been spiked.(3) Influences of the fabric stab-resistance and the analyses:increasing the density of warp and weft within limits will improve the fabric spike force, as the density of warp and weft getting bigger, the difference between spike forces of plain weave and twill is getting smaller. The spike force of polysulfonamide twill fabric is close to those of polysulfonamide twill fabric when use590.5dtex yarn and a warp and weft density of268yarns/10cm. So one can use twill fabric instead of plain weave fabric as stab-resistant material for the request of stab-resistance and effective formability.(4) SiO2/PEG200fluid can improve the stab-resistance of fabric, spike force value of fabric coated with a silica volume fraction of25%is increased by6.7%, spike force value of fabric coated with a silica volume fraction of65%is increased by14.6%. We also found that SiO2/PEG200fluid fabric showed more excellent stab-resistance ability under certain impact velocity and energy. As to the fabric used in the paper, the SiO2/PEG200fluid fabric began to show excellent stab-resistance ability under the impact velocity of3.26m/s and energy of3.29J.(5) A sole made of4layers of polyester fabrics with warp and weft density of168×l68yarns/10cm and2layers of glassfiber fabrics with warp and weft density of200xl80yams/10cm coated with SiO2/PEG200fluid of65percentage silica volume fraction can defend spike force of350N, the sole also has good moisture-penetrability and feet holding ability.(6) Imitate the situation of people wearing shoes, the paper comes up with a new method of testing and characterizing stab-resistance shoe.To sum up, fabrication and characterization of stab-resistant shoe by high-strength fabric clear the relationships of yarn structure, fabric structure and coat fluid ratio to stab-resistant performance, lay the foundation for the flexible, comfort and effective design of stab-resistant shoe, provide available testing method and characterization for analyzing the property of stab-resistant shoe.
