As one of the most commonly mechanical transmissions, gear transmission has advantages of big power transmission,accurate transmission ratio, higher efficiency, longer lifespan, easy to maintain and work safely and reliably. The paper is focus on the transmission gears of the car. With the car’s performance and speed increased higher requests are put forward to the transmission gears. Improving gears’transmission performance, such as improving carrying capacity, reducing weight, reducing contour dimension, improving the service life and working reliability are becoming the important content of gear design. The paper chooses the two conditions of the most frequency in the actual production and the most impact to gear teeth contact stress:the error of axis plane’s axis non-parallelism and the error of vertical plane’s axis non-parallelism, and analyze the gear contact stress.Cylindrical gear’s tolerance is a common problem in mechanical design. And in gear model design, in order to improve the designer’s efficiency and gear processing quality, it is necessary to use computer aided design to design of cylindrical gears tolerance inquire system so that we can quickly get the need data in gear design.The paper uses the gear theory of gear meshing, elasticity theory and so on. With the Pro/E software’s strong parametric design function, parameterize the straight tooth gear model accurately. Then, use Pro/E software to do the cylindrical gear’s assembly simulation, interference checking. Through the seamless connection between the Pro/E software and workbench, guide the gear’s assembly’s model into workbench, use the finite element method to analysis the gear contact stress under the assembly error, and express the advantage of the Pro/E modeling and workbench prominent finite element analysis. Take use of Microsoft Office Access software to establish cylindrical gear’s tolerance database, take use of VB software editing interface and ADO technology, accessing gear tolerance database, and complete the gear tolerance inquire system design.
