Study On The Technology For Isolation And Purification Of Lutein From Corn Protein Powder

Corn gluten is the main byproduct of corn starch wet production, which is rich in avariety of active ingredients,but it is mainly used in the production of animal food and so theactive ingredient has not been fully utilized.To a certain extent this inefficiency is a form ofresource wastage. Corn gluten meal, as a raw material for the extraction of lutein, does notonly solve the problem of environmental pollution, but also it is rich in protein which can bere-used as a hydrolysis treatment and further preparation of functional peptides, the utilizationof by-products can greatly improve the economic value of raw corn.Lutein is a carotenoid with high antioxidant effects. It has the potential to prevent theage-related vision retinopathy caused by debilitating, additionally it can also reduce the riskof cancer and cardiovascular diseases. Lutein was found to have inhibitory effect on a varietyof cancers such as breast cancer, prostate cancer. Several features of lutein determine itswidely used in cosmetics, animal feeding and pharmaceutical industry.Corn gluten meal as a raw material was studied in this dissemination.Extraction processof lutein was tested by the microwave surfactant-assisted solvent extraction and supercriticalCO2extraction process.Comparing these two extraction processes, the latter process is the bestoption.On this basis, in order to improve the purity of lutein, the saponification of lutein esterwas researched and finally purification process of lutein was studied Two resins were used inthe experiments to compare and contrast the results of the two in order to choose the mostappropriate and more efficient one. Through analysis of the adsorption of static and dynamictests from the experiments data, adsorption kinetics was obtained,and the choice of the bestpurification conditions was concluded from the results of the experiments.
