In2009, China has exceeded Germany and became the largest exporter in the world.Export trade promoted rapid growth of China’s economy, but at the same time, it has alsobrought a series of environmental problems, for example, energy consumption increasedsignificantly, natural resources over-exploited, water and air polluted very severely, and so on.While China’s export enterprises exported goods to other countries, the pollution remained indomestic. In recent years, the contradiction between environmental protection and economicdevelopment increasingly intensified, especially air pollution has become China’s mostserious and most urgent problem. Firstly, continuously large-scale fog and haze not onlyendangered the health of our citizens, but also seriously threatened our country’s food security. The latest data which China’s Ministry of Environmental Protection released showed that:only three cities in74cities achieved air quality standards in2013. The average number ofdays that measured up in74cities was221days, the rate that measured up was60.5%, andthe concentration of pollutants exceeded the national standard, the annual average value ofPM2.5concentration in74cities was72micrograms/m3(annual average value of gradeⅡstandards is35micrograms/m3). Continuously large-scale fog and haze not only affectedpeople’s health, but also affected the photosynthesis of plants, threatened the country’s foodsecurity. In June2013, the wheat suffered serious haze during the filling; there was no sun inone week. As a result, the wheat filling was affected. In2013, Beijing Academy ofAgricultural Sciences made the high-yielding test of wheat’s new varieties in Shunyi.Compared with2012, the output of that therefore cuts15%-20%. Secondly, The15thcontracting party conference for UNFCCC was held in Copenhagen in2009, Chinaannounced in the manner of binding targets for the first time that carbon dioxide emissionsper unit of GDP in2020will cut down40%~45%than that in2005. During November11stto23th,2013, the15th contracting party conference for UNFCCC was held in Warsaw. Chinareleased the first "national climate change adaptation strategy", which showed that thegovernment is highly concerned about the atmospheric environment. Thirdly, the new carbontariff trade barriers will affect the sustainable development of China’s export trade. Based onthe above analysis, this paper has chosen the influence and countermeasure of export trade on carbon emission in China as a research topic. What is the influence of export trade on China’scarbon emissions? What kind of measures the Chinese government as well as exportindustries and enterprises should take? These are the focus of this thesis. This paper synthetically applies the methods of normative and empirical analysis, firstlyanalyzes the current development of export trade and carbon emissions; then analyzes thecorrelative relationship between China’s export trade and carbon emissions by applyingeconometric time-series data model; then, calculates the implicit carbon of various sectors’export trade by using input-output method and analyzes of the impact of various sectors’export trade on carbon emissions; subsequently, analyzes the influence of various regions’export on carbon emissions by applying econometric panel data model, and then analyzes thereasons that China’s export trade influences carbon emissions. The corresponding conclusionis: there is long-term balanced relationship between amount of export trade and quantity ofcarbon emission in China, continuously increasing amount of export trade is granger cause offast growth of carbon emission; the export of different sectors produces different influence oncarbon emissions; the export trade of each region also produces different impact on carbonemissions. Finally, puts forward some policies and recommendations on how making progresslow-carbon of China’s export trade basing on the above analysis.
