Study On Laos Eco-environmental Problems And Measures Of Environmental Protection

In recent decades, with the development of the Lao economy and society and population growth, the Lao national ecological environment has been suffered a significant influence. The major environmental issues includes the destruction of forest resources, serious soil erosion problem, frequent droughts and floods; water and air pollution led by industrial production; exploitation of mineral resources is in the lack of effective supervision and regulation, suffered excessive and indiscriminate digging, causing water pollution and soil damage, and affecting agricultural production; rapid development of the city has also brought a number of environmental problems, such as a surge garbage led by population growth. In Lao, the ecological environment has become a bottleneck restricting economic development, and a important issue affecting social sustainable development and people livelihood.After entering the21st century, in the pursuit of economic and social development process, the Lao government realize that economic growth must be coordinated with environmental protection, starting to attach great importance to natural resources and environmental protection with a strong sense of historical responsibility and a more positive, serious and responsible attitude. In recent years, the Lao government has formulated and enacted a number of laws, policies and action plans related to ecological environment protection, actively participating in international cooperation, raising funds through multiple channels to protect ecological environment and setting up the ministry of natural resources and environment with more functions and a greater effect. Thus, the Lao government is to devote great efforts to achieve sustainable development strategy of coordinating economic development and environmental protection, in order to avoid the old road of "grow first, clean up later".This paper takes Lao ecological environment protection as research subject, describing the historical development and current status of the Lao ecological environment problems, discussing the government effectiveness and challenges in building environmental systems through analyzing and evaluating the government laws and policies of ecological environment governance, and presenting feasible measures and proposals on how to protect the Lao ecological environment in a better way, hoping to explain how to improve environmental protection system through more effective measures and to cope better with the challenges of the increasingly serious ecological environment problems.
