The problems of total phosphorus out of limits in the rivers, lakes and other water have been paid close attention by the department of the state environmental protection. Total phosphorus is also an important parameter in water quality evaluation index. Phosphorus exists in many places, easy to appear the phenomenon of excessive in some areas, destructing the water ecological balance, causing irreparable damage.In order to solve this situation, this article has carried on the research and exploration of total phosphorus concentration monitoring. Based on the summary and comparison on predecessors’ research results, aiming at the actual situation in Shanxi Province, the total phosphorus of water quality remote online monitoring system was designed. Main applications were used in system include the sensor detection technology, chemical analysis technology, spectrophotometer, single-chip microcomputer control technology, and user interaction technology. System need to achieve water samples acquisition function, pretreatment function, measurement function, data processing function, data transmission function and other major task. The ultimate aim is to achieve the real time automatic monitoring the concentration of total phosphorus in water and remote data transmission and fault diagnosis. There are the paper main research works.After comparing test methods of total phosphorus at home and abroad, select a proper method for the total phosphorus monitoring system. The method should be fit for real-time on-line monitoring environment, under the premise of guarantee accuracy, as simple as possible. The visible spectrophotometry was finally chosen.According to the detection principle, control cabinet, water supply and drainage, the ratio of solution automatic compound, reaction vessel, spectrophotometer and sensor devices installation, and the overall mechanical structure were designed.Choosing ARM STM32microcontroller as the core, the AT89C51single-chip computer as assistant controller, relay drive Circuit, the peristaltic pump stepper motor drive Circuit, data acquisition, processing, transmission Circuit, user interaction interface, and other modules circuit schematic diagram were completed, and Printed Circuit Board was made.According to hardware, control software was compiled with corresponding functions and easy to debug. The machine assembly and experiment, systematic functional testing, system stability test, and environmental adaptability test.
