The purpose of this subject is to study on the environmental effect of trade under thecondition of low carbon economy in China and the results will provide theoretical supportfor the low carbon development of trade. Thus, it has very important practical significance. This paper investigate the relationship between the export trade and environment pollutionusing panel data of30provinces in China from2001to2011and regarding CO2and SO2emission as the indicators of environment. The empirical results show that:(1) The EKChypothesis is true in China.(2) Export trade aggravates the environment pollution both theabsolute and relative quantity.(3) Export trade exist obvious environmental effect fromthree aspects of scale, structure and technology. Therefore, our government should takeeffective measures to reverse the current bad condition. As the world’s environment is worsening, a large number of papers studying on therelationship between trade and environment emerge in the field of trade since1990s andtherefore lead the frontier of international trade theory. This paper studies the problem ofChina and draws some useful conclusions through following these frontier researches. Thispaper is mainly divided into the following sections: Firstly, the theoretical part generalizesthe key literatures and researches of domestic and abroad, especially the generalequilibrium model of environmental effect, the decomposition theory of environmentaleffect and the pollution haven hypothesis. Secondly, the econometric section discusses theestimation of CO2emission, the correlate theory of panel data model and the model designof econometric. Then, this paper divides the environmental effect of trade into threeaspects of scale, structure and technology. Thirdly, the section of empirical analysis makesthe panel data analysis using the annual data per province in China. Then, we draw someuseful policy suggestions on the basis of the empirical analysis results. Lastly, the final partis the conclusion of the paper.
