With the rapid development of Chinese economy and the social publicconsciousness promotion, the historical district protection has got more and moreattention. Although the big demolishing on old buildings has gradually disappeared,the safety problems caused by disasters are still not well solved. As a result, thetraditional urban safety management mode for the historical district protection is lackof pertinence. In order to solve this, this article based on the historical districtcomprehensive safety situation and BIM (building information model) technology, inview of the city and district’s containing elements and characteristics of digitalinformation technology, linked with geographic information system, shows thehistorical district digital information system research on comprehensive security. Themain contents and innovative points are as follows:First, this paper has a deep analysis of the historical district and itscomprehensive security situation. The paper emphasizes the historical district of itsvalue, and analyzes the existing research results and management problems, such asthe mode too simple, the method over subjective, system dispersion, and the lowefficiency. With the rapid development and wide application in architectural field, thecomputer aided technology can solve this problem.Second, this paper mainly studies the BIM technology in architectural field ofapplication and the existing shortage of BIM core software in the treatment ofhistorical district modeling. BIM technology is to improve the traditional computeraided technology efficiency, change the poor collaboration, and increase the low datasharing rate. But the historical district structure is complicated, and comprehensivesecurity research is professional and wide, traditional BIM core software applied todistrict modeling will face huge information data, which may bring visibility abate,access bottleneck, and poor real-time performance problems.Then, this paper based on BIM technology, proposes the city information model(CIM) which is applicable to the historical district protection, and solves the shortageof the existing BIM core software using to urban scale of the research. According tothe content of the urban planning elements and the need of this study, with the aid of typology study method, this paper designs the upper system CIM beyond the buildingsystem, and constructs a relatively complete, scientific and global parameter library.The possibility of system used in other related fields is discussed.Finally, this paper gives out the CIM system software application planning.According to comprehensive security, this paper studies the principle, main function,usage of the existing related software, and screens out the suitable software for use inCIM system. And in this paper, the software fitness degree and the prospect ofdevelopment factors are classified, in order to offer the government and relevantdesign research institutions. The CIM system is due to truly realize the automatic,intelligent, and seamless management.
