Of surviving all kinds of historical and cultural heritage, historical and culturalvillage occupies a very important position. A large number of China’s ancient villages,widely distributed, high historical and cultural value, and enjoy the reputation of the"Pearl of the traditional culture". Therefore, the historical and cultural village is atreasure of China’s historical and cultural heritage, an irreplaceable value.At present, on the protection of historical and cultural village in china planningthis single-level research has matured and accumulated many scientific research, butcurrent preservation of some village is bad, such as environmental pollution,infrastructure destroyed, excessive tourism development, less participation in village,the lack of management mechanism. The reason of these problems in the protectionprocess is insufficient attention to the process of village protection. It is possible toestablish a protective process theory of historical and cultural village to protect thevillages.It is necessary to discuss the idea of two dimensions of the historical and culturalvillage in the protection process, propose the materiality process and the socialprocess. Materiality process for the protection of historical and cultural village (thevillage materiality process is in the process of protection of historical and culturalvillage oriented material space protection planning, design and implementationprocess, which is the process of conservation planning and its implementation) andsocial process(the village social protection is reaction of the public intervention of thehistorical and cultural village, stressed that run the security system of social securityprotection during operation of the village, is divided into four major elements-thelegal system, organization, evaluation system, public participation) to conduct acomprehensive analysis. Therefore, this study will play a positive role in promotingthe protection of historical and cultural village.
