The terminal is an important transport architecture type, the literature on AirportPlanning and Terminal construction is comprehensive. But in-depth design and researchabout a subspace in the terminal is still rare. Especially research about the main publicspace—the departure hall.Take this opportunity, this article analyze function, space andother aspects of the terminal departure hall.Based on theory study, through on-the-spot investigation of the capital airport threeterminal departure halls, contrast in the similarities and differences about function, space and other aspects of the halls, to sort out the universal function, spatialcharacteristics. And through the research, the existent problems and the way to avoidthem will be found.Application of the conclusion will be practiced in the design ofNew-airport departure hall. This research mainly aimed at four points, the design overview, function, spacedesign and the connection with surroundings. The first part is about the location, scaleand shape, function partition of the hall. The second part is the focus of this paper, notonly relates to the functional partition, but also the public facilities’ location in thehall. The hall include two main functions, main function zone is divided into three parts, counter zone, circulation zone, queue area, auxiliary function zone is divided into twoparts, commercial function and public facilities. Based on the analysis of capital airportT1, T2, T3, Space design focuses on the analysis of the advantages and disadvantagesof T3departure hall. The connection with surroundings mainly focuse on the verticaltransport, security checkpoints and the driveway edge contact. With the popularization of air travel, reach on terminal will focus on sub-functionalzones. Through detailed study, the departure hall will meet passengers’s demand infunction, space, and other aspects. The ture humanization will be realized.
