In the traditional design of steel residential buildings, corrugated steel plate wall(CSPW) is always regarded as partition and maintenance structure, withoutconsideration of the overall influence on the performance of the structure. Combiningthe advantages of the semi-rigid connection joint such as simple construction、highconstruction efficiency and good ductility with the advantages of the corrugated steelplate such as high stiffness within plane、good post-buckling strength and stablehysteretic performance, I put forword a new type of structural system which calledSemi-Rigid Connection Steel Frame-Corrugated Steel Plate Wall in this dissertation. As the principal structural component to resist lateral force and dissipate earthquakeenergy, the CSPW participate to the overall work of structure effectively. In thisdissertation, mechanical analysis and experiment research have been carried out tostudy the shear failure mode and hysteretic behavior of CSPW. A number of designproposals were proposed based on the analysis and experiment, which can do somehelp to design and application of CSPW. The main works are listed as follows:(1)In accordance with The Chinese Code for Design of Steel Structures (GB50017-2003) and the laboratory conditions, I have designed a set of steel frames forexperiment which can make the joint to be hinged or semi-rigid by transforming thetype of beam, and with which I complete four CSPW experiments by replacingcorrugated steel plate.(2)Four specimens were tested, including two hinged frame with trapezoidalCSPW, one higed frame with rippled CSPW, one semi-rigid frame with trapezoidalCSPW. The experimental phenomena, including the yielding of corrugated steelplate, forming and development of buckling waves, failure mode of corrugated steelplate, etc., were studied through the experiment. Also, the differences of bearingcapacity, lateral stiffness, ductility, dissipation capacity and failure modes betweenthe four specimens were compared.(3)According to the mechanical characteristics and boundary condition, simplified mechanical analysis of the failure modes were carried out, including theshearing strength in shear-yield mode, local buckling mode and global bucklingmode. Also, in this dissertation, the factors which determine the performance ofCSPW were analysed. In conclusion, CSPW with big stiffness within plane prefer tofail in local buckling mode, otherwise, CSPW with litttle stiffness within plane preferto fail in global buckling mode. (4)According to the mechanical analysis and the comparation between theexperimental results. The reliability of the connection between steel frame andCSPW is the principal factor which determine the bearing capacity, lateral stiffness, ductility, dissipation capacity of structure. A new kind of weld connection detailwhich was put forward on account of the characteristic of CSPW.
