In the traditional design of steel residential buildings, corrugated steel sheet isalways regarded as partition or maintenance structure, without consideration of its overallinfluence on the performance of the structure. Considering of the advantages of thecorrugated steel sheet such as high stiffness within plane and high post-buckling strength,I put forward a new type of structural system which is called Corrugated Steel Plate Wallin this dissertation. As the principal structural component to resist lateral force anddissipate earthquake energy, the CSPW participates in the overall work of structureeffectively. In this dissertation, mechanical analysis and experimental research have beencarried out to study the shear failure modes and hysteretic behavior of CSPW. The mainworks are listed as follows:(1)Eight specimens were designed and tested. The experimental phenomena,including the yielding of corrugated steel plate, form and development of buckling waves,failure mode of corrugated steel plate, etc., were studied through the experiment. Also,the differences of bearing capacity, lateral stiffness, ductility, dissipation capacity andfailure modes among the eight specimens were compared.(2)In this dissertation, the factors which determine the performance of CSPWwere analyzed. According to the mechanical analysis and the comparison among theexperimental results, the reliability of the connection between steel frame and CSPW wasthe principal factor which determines the performance of the structure. The specimenswith vertical layout corrugated steel plate behaved better.(3)According to the mechanical characteristics, simplified mechanical analysis ofthe failure modes was carried out, including the shearing strength in shear-yield mode,local buckling mode and global buckling mode.And a new kind of production mode ofCSPW was proposed in this dissertation, which can be industrialized in the future.(4)Based on the analysis of the skeleton curve and the hysteresis curve, asimplified analysis model was put forward, which can be used in structural systemanalysis instead of shell element. In addition, the model was tested by the means ofOpenSees.
