Building a realistic Ground-based flight simulation system of aircraft has somegreat significance to the design of its control system. This paper studies theGround-based flight simulation system of a general aviation aircraft, including thedesign and implementation of the virtual cockpit system, the building of themathematical model for the flight simulation, the design and implementation of thevisual simulation system and the debugging and implementation of the wholesystem. The main work of this paper is as follows.First, we design the layout of the virtual cockpit system and the structure ofvirtual cockpit instrument according to actually need. Based on the design of thestructure of virtual cockpit instrument, using VC++and GL Studio, we thencomplete the development of the virtual cockpit instrument, study thecommunication technology of the virtual the cockpit instrument, and test the virtualcockpit instrument on stand-alone network to see whether it meets the needs of theground flight simulation. Propose a new method which base on embedded graphicsto achieve virtual cockpit instrumentation, and utilize OpenGL ES to achieve.Secondly, according to the data which is needed by the virtual cockpitinstrument and visual simulation system, we build the mathematical model of theground-based flight simulation of a general aviation aircraft, the core of which isflight dynamics equation solver module, meanwhile we build the aerodynamic andaerodynamic torque calculation model, the landing gear model, the landing gearground conditional model, the engine model, the environmental model andadditional parameters model. Then we analyze the simulated results, testing whetherthese models meet the needs of other subsystems.Thirdly, we develop the visual simulation subsystem based on Mantis, andstudy the modeling techniques which are related with visual simulation, the designof simulation control program based on CIGI (Common Image Generator Interface)and the data exchange technologies between this control program and mantis. Wethen test the function of visual simulation subsystem with the simulation data to seewhether it meets the needs of the ground flight simulation.Finally, we design the experimental scheme of the Ground-based flightsimulation system of a general aviation aircraft, and then complete the ground flightsimulation experiment according to the scheme, and analyze the results.Experimental results show that the virtual cockpit instrument system cancorrectly display the real-time flight data of aircraft, and the visual simulation subsystem can correctly display the status of the flight, which achieve the purposeof the Ground-based flight simulation system of a general aviation aircraft.
