Flight simulator is used for simulating flight status, flight environment and flightconditions of an aircraft and is an testing and training equipment which provides pilot similarworking load, sensory of visual, auditory and motion. Visual simulation system is animportant part of flight simulator. It can improve simulation authenticity and fidelity byproviding pilot vivid outside view of cockpit window. This paper designed and implementedan interactive visual simulation system for general aircraft simulator. Developing generalaircraft flight simulator is a hot research in general aviation. The system uses VS2003asdevelopment platform and combines3D graphic development package and visual enginetechnology.This paper studies the design of visual simulation system of flight simulator for generalaircraft. The study and implantation process can be divided into three parts: establishing3Dobject model library, flight motion simulation, flight scene management and visual-driven. Inorder to complete each part, this paper mainly contains the following work:3D modeling theory is studied; and based on the theory,3D models in visual simulationsystem of flight simulator for general aircraft are generated. The model optimizationtechniques for3D modeling are deeply analyzed, which improves the real-time andauthenticity effect when rendering. The3D model generation approach and steps are the mainfocus in this paper and the problems of low terrain loading speed and poor realism areimproved;Based on the ground coordinate system, aircraft body coordinate system and airflowcoordinate system, aircraft6-freedom degree Kinetic equations are established; features ofEuler angles coordinate transformation and Quaternion coordinate transformation are alsostudied; Full amount of the equations of motion is calculated through the classic Runge-Kuttaalgorithm in order to guarantee calculation precision under the condition of real-timerequirement;Implementation principles and relevant techniques for scene driven are introduced. Some key techniques, such as Vega Prime application framework, collision detection, particlesystem and natural environment simulation, are studied and analyzed;Finally, the system architecture and implementation process are introduced. Afterdebugging the simulation platform, the effect diagram is given. Practice has proved that thesystem has advantages of low cost, authentic interface and good real-time feature. The systemcan help relieve the huge requirement for training general aviation pilots, thus, has greatsocial and economic benefits.
