Investigating Tender Documents Based On The Theory Of Sustainable Construction

In recent years, sustainable development has become a hot topic in academiccircles, the construction industry as a pillar industry of the national economy, musttake the road of sustainable development. Construction field is not only very importantbut also very complex in sustainable development field. According to relevant data，construction and related industry consumes approximately50%of the earth’s energy，generating about24%of the world’s air pollution, water pollution,40%of the20%solid waste. The problem of sustainable development of construction industry is directlyrelated to the extent of how human society can achieve sustainable development.Sustainable construction as a sustainable development theory application andinnovation in construction industry, is attracting more and more attention of scholars.However, the current research on sustainable construction is mostly concentrated onthe design of green building and green construction field, perspectives standing in thedesigning side and the construction side. The proposed theories and methods aretechnically feasible. But due to the lack of a comprehensive understanding of theconstruction developer，the proposed theories and methods are insufficient and difficultto promote in the operational level. This paper tried to study the implementation of thesustainable development theory in the perspective of the construction developer, ratherthan academic circles currently adopted from the angle of the construction sideBased on the theory of sustainable development, this paper regards the tenderdocuments of construction project as the research object. Through the research of thecognition and attention degree of the construction developer about sustainableconstruction, we sorted out the49factors of bidding documents which can be used forevaluation of construction sustainable performance by means of literature review andexpert interview. We Collected511copies of the tender documents in constructionproject. Then we extracted factors of the tender documents by content analysis method.Finally, after the data acquisition and the analysis of the present situation of theconstruction market, we find that relative to the economic and social factors, theenvironmental factors are not paid much attention as they deserve, which in someextent explains the reason why it is difficult to promote energy saving andenvironmental protection technology.Although starting from studying the tender documents of construction project can help people understand the application status of sustainable construction from a certainextent, but after all the tender documents can only represent the expectations andrequirements of construction developers, instead of completely explaining thesustainable situation of construction project. Therefore, the paper’s contribution in theresearch of the sustainable performance of construction project is still limited.
