Research On Chongqing University Landscapes Creation From The Perspective Of Regional Culture

Under the background of globalization, national culture and regional culture areincreasingly concerned. Seeing the similarity of world scenery, many scholars areadvocating that we should design more landscapes with characteristics of regionalculture. As a critical part consisting of metropolis landscapes, the university has itsregional culture characteristics which are of great importance. Under the university’sconcept of open education and resource sharing, the university landscape has a subtleeducational influence not only to the teaching staffs and the students in the campus butalso to the surrounding residents. Therefore, proper grasp and application of elements ofregional culture in landscape creation in university not only show the regionalcharacteristics of university scenery but also have great significance to the inheritanceand innovation of regional culture.Nowadays, researches to university landscape are mainly from the aspects ofcampus culture, plants design, regional culture, historical context and college students’behavior psychology etc. and pay less attention to researches of cultural elements inuniversity landscape design and creation. Thus, this thesis makes a comparison researchof landscape elements representation at present in five representative universities ofdifferent professional backgrounds and different historical culture backgrounds(Chongqing University, Chongqing Normal University, Chongqing Medical University,Chongqing University of Science and Technology and Sichuan Fine Art Institute) basedon Chongqing college town.First, this essay analyzes the relative theories of regional culture and universitylandscape, and the relationship between them. Next, unscrambling influentialelements, consisting elements and forms of expression of Chongqing regional cultureand the general situation of Chongqing university town, comparatively analyzing theapplication of regional culture in campus landscapes through investigation on the spot,the thesis sums up the advantages and disadvantages of university landscape in theconstruction of regional culture.Then, beginning with regional culture elements such as original landscapes,regional materials, local building appearance, regional historical culture and humanityhistory of the university etc., this thesis explores creating strategies of Chongqinguniversity landscapes under the perspective of regional culture, on account of relative cases at home and abroad. Finally, this thesis puts forward my own suggestions andthoughts towards the developing trend of Chongqing University landscape with regionalcultural connotation.I sincerely hope that this research can guide some of the university’s unfinishedlandscape constructions, provide reference and guidance to some subsequentmaintenance, management and renovation, and become a source of reference for thenew campus landscapes construction in other regions.
