Pavement cold milling machine is a essential equipment for highwaymaintenance. It is more and more often applied in practice with the rapid developmentof highway construction. The rotor is the core part of pavement cold milling machine,and design of the rotor is the key to essure a good working perfornance. Optimizationof the rotor have been an important subject.Adams is one of the most popular virtual prototyping software around the world.It has a strong abbillity of kinematic and dynamic analysis. Working condition of therotor was simulated by Adams. Adams/PostProcessor was used to analysis all theresaults.In this paper, the author analysis the movement of the rotor and the trajectory ofthe knifepoint at first, simulated the the motion of the rotor under different workingcondition, analysised the relationship between the speed of the rotor and motionparameters. Additionally, analysised the resistance of the rotor, thus formulated a wayto calculate the resistance and power of milling. Moreover, used UG to establish thegeometric modle of the rotor including the arangement of the tools, then used Adamsto finish the dynamic simulation of the tool magzine and studied the dynamicresponse in working condition. This paper found a new way to design the rotor.Meanwhile, it provided references for analysing and procasting of the stabibility ofpavement milling machine.
