With the depletion of oil resources intensifying, the economy of the vehicle fuel havebecome increasingly demanded, which can be accomplished by reduce the weight of the autobody. Therefore, the auto body steel sheet have become thinner and thinner based on meetingthe performance requirements, while various alloy materials have been used more and more.There have been some economic and technical deficiencies, with the traditional spot weldingand riveting connection technology. In this case, the clinching technology based on themechanical deformation has been widely used in automotive sheet metal connection becauseof its unique technical and economic advantages.There are some factors affecting the clinching reliability, with the parameters unchanging,the clinching times plays a decisive impact in the reliability of the connection point quality.With the number of clinching increasing, the wear of the die becomes more and more serious.When the die wear exceeds a certain level, the die will not work properly or the quality ofclinching will become worse. In this paper the aims is to obtain the life limit and failure lawsof the die deduced by experiment mold life, based on designing an experimental station, andrepeated a certain number of clinching.The test bench has been designed on the basis of the original pressure table, and themajor works are as follows. Firstly, the reliability programs and procedures of the servo pressmachine have been designed. Secondly, the die life with the normal stress level have beeninferred by using constant stress accelerated life test method with a higher stress level inferlife. The reliability test bench have been designed, based on the servo press machine. What’smore, the selection and assembly of the hardware and the programming and debugging of thesoftware have been completed.Through the design of the test, the servo press pressure connection can be automated.Thereby manual operational can also be reduced, saving test time and increase efficiency ofthe experiment. So there will be a certain guiding significance to realize the automation ofclinching.
