Many mountain highway in our country to go though the mountains, generallymountain highway have high altitude, the temperature is low and so on. Snow and iceas a natural disaster is closely related to highway safety. The design of mountainhighway, slope and slope length as key indicators, it is important to investment andtraffic safety, so the reasonable value of the longitudinal slope, not only reduce theinvestment of road construction, but also improve road traffic. So, in snow and iceconditions, objective scientific and systematic analysis of the key technologies affectthe safety of road operators. Finally, the corresponding indicators suggested value.By qualitative and quantitative analysis about snow disaster, analysis of thereasons for the formation and distribution characteristics of the snow disaster, andmeasured friction coefficient for different road, analysis of the relationship between thecoefficient of friction with the road type, the tire structure, and patterns by ice andsnow. On the basis of the papers in a large number of research and summarize theengineering experience, depth on the index value of the longitudinal slope of themountain highway in the snow and ice conditions. Indicator values by the level of roadservice, running speed and the driver′s psychological reaction point of view to studythe longitudinal slope design, according to the highway slope length limitationprinciple, from different angles of slope length design indicators. Secondly, accordingto the principle of vehicle dynamics, because vehicle traction when climbinginfluenced by the condition of the road surface friction, so established climbing modelvehicle under the snow and ice condition, through the different of quality/power ratio, different models calculated maximum slope on ice and snow. Finally, proposed ofmaximum slope length and slope value.According to the mountain highway traffic environment in the snow and iceconditions, because road adhesion coefficient decreases, for the safe running of vehiclehave significant adverse effects. So, in this paper, through the use of simulationsoftware ADAMS/Car, establish the vehicle model, road model and vehicle—roadmodel. Simulation under normal weather, rain, snow and icing conditions withdifferent coefficient of friction for running test, analysis of the effects of snow and iceroad to traffic safety. Finally, maximum speed of calculation method proposed in different ice road under conditions of safe driving.
