With the rapid development of the China’s chemical industry and the national economy, the demand of dangerous goods is increasing and the transportation of those goods is also rising. As we know, the transportation of dangerous goods will cause a serious threat to the towns, rivers and crowds which are near the road. As a result, the safety of the transportation of dangerous goods gets lots of attentions and it is also a great challenge which we will face. But the management of the transportation which has a high security requirement and risk is in its infancy state. What’s more, the accident of these kinds of transportation will cause a severe consequence. In order to find out a scheme to insure the safety of the transportation of dangerous goods and improve the safety factor of the transportation, we come up with a transport of dangerous goods monitoring system which is based on the technology of GIS(Geographic Information System),3G and GPS. This monitoring system is a typical system which is highly integrated the technology of wireless data communication, geographic information system and spatial localization. On the basis of summarizing the results of previous studies, we mainly introduce the application of this system on the transport of dangerous goods and analyze the character of the technology of3G, GPS, GIS and the Zigbee.In order to solve the problem of wiring in video transmission system and the problem of bandwidth in the system of GPRS wireless network video transmission, we use the embedded devices and the3G network card as the video data capture preceding which is based on the coding standard of H.264, the protocol of RTP/RTCP and the monitoring system of3G network. The core processes of the system is that the vehicle terminal will send the information of GPS, video and the related sensors to the control centre and display its current location, environmental parameters, diver’s physiological state and the related parameters of the vehicle in the control centre.
