Abstract: We are living in an era of rapid consumption. Nowadays, buildings are alsocater to the demand of this era. Modern buildings cluster together to declare the presence ofcity modernization, designers always have a wishful thinking that they can design so-calledvisual buildings. Whatever, today’s buildings are losing experience, the memory of life anda real space perception. However, the real meaningful architectural space should not onlycreated by architect’s wishful thinking, but also conclude the perceptual, memorial levelwhich needs more spiritual building space. This paper first analyzes the multi-level perception of architectural space with spaceperception as a starting point, including the aspects of vision, phenomenology and spirit.Based on Arngeim’s Gestalt psychology, this thesis deduces the most basic level of visualperception; By introducing the concept of phenomenology of perception, it alsosupplements the deficiency of the visual aspects and analyzes the space phenomenologicalperception level with the phenomenon of Hall area as the foundation; Finally, it exploresthe deep perception of space, that is--spiritual perception through Norberg-Schulz’ s theoryof the spirit of place. These three levels constitute a complete space perception system in aprogressive and complementary way. Through theoretical analysis and field investigation, the thesis calls on people to build an interactive relationship with architectural space. Thusthe architect can pay more attention to true feelings of human and design rationally in orderto build multi-layered and artistic architectural space.
