The accuracy of traffic forecast,affects the quantity of equipment, project benefit, and the important bases for researchingoperation mode and making passenger train plan. For long-term forecasting of passengertransport with scientific and reasonable is very necessary for the effective control of projectinvestment. It will bring difficulties to the railway operation if the traffic forecast is too lowand it will be built over the size of the actual needs, causing the rise in construction costs andwaste of resources if the traffic forecast is too high. Therefore, the purpose of paper isaccording to the reality of the transportation to building the appropriate traffic forecast fordedicated passenger traffic line, and provide further reference for the decision. The paperanalyzes the factors impact on the trend of passenger transport, and studies rational division of laborbetween the existing line and new line, using the a four-stage method for the prediction process.Finally, based on the result of prior passenger volume forecast, according to the actualsituation of the Lanzhou-Wulumuqi passenger dedicated line, with passenger transportproducts fast, comfortable, convenient for the foundation, methods of operation scheme isdetermined, and developed the suitable passenger train plan.
