Jinzhong, in central Shanxi Province, according to Taihang East and West along theFen River, is located in the eastern edge of the Loess Plateau. Architecture is such acultural carrier, in many ways,that the traditional houses of Jinzhong reflects localresidents’ dreams and prays, as well as sets of etiquette in China, thus traditionaldwellings of Jinzhiong are filled with auspicious culture.Trough procedures of organization, classification and combing, get a rich set ofphotos during field investigation, have a summarize and integration on the basis ofinformation combing and research as well, which means to explore the traditionallocal-style dwelling houses of Jinzhong. By the way of the dominant carrier andrecessive carrier’s expression about auspicious culture, try to find out the way ofexpressing in forms of traditional culture and regional culture of Jinzhong, for the sakeof providing reference opinions for Jinzhong modern architecture, also enrichingJinzhong modern architecture in use of more colorful desighing language---withnational and local characteristics, as well as people’s hope for a better life.There are basically four aspects in this paper, the contents are as follows:The first aspect, with the relevant literature as the theoretical basis, throughon-the-spot investigation, the paper explores the concept of thinking of the auspiciouscultural diversity from the perspectives of feng shui, Taoism, Confucianism, Zen andfolk. Auspicious cultural carrier of Jinzhong traditional houses is regarded as theresearch subject, which is analyzed in detail about the performance in jinzhonglocal-style dwelling houses. This paper elaborates unique natural resources and culturalbackground in Jinzhong, further expounds the background and regional differences ofthe Chinese auspicious culture along with social psychology its reflected afterwards, and then explains auspicious cultural connotation and its connection with Chinesetraditional auspicious culture.The second aspect, the paper begins in-depth study from explicit expression ofJinzhong traditional residential courtyard. Start with elements of traditional houses fromthe main house, rooms, back seat, the hall, decorated second door, it expounds thespecific performance of the auspicious cultural in Jinzhong local-style dwelling houses,besides, which also analyzed aesthetic performance and its meaning within auspiciouscultural that exists in decorative graphics in Jinzhong traditional houses. Then furtheranalysis from the perspectives of culture: Apply Confucius Harmonious Thoughts toanalysis of the level of architectural decoration and the principle of proportionality.Analyze the geographical material selection and application based on the idea ofTaoism harmony of man with nature. Discuss the subjects matters which suit bothrefined and popular tastes in the view of aesthetics of folk customs.The third aspect, the paper begins in-depth study from implicit expression ofJinzhong traditional residential courtyard. Start with the perspective of the courtyardunit to compound group. Space as the carrier of culture must be meaningful. After that,the paper respectively analyzes the establishment of spatial scales, enclosed space andspatial order, the layout of the axisymmetric as well. Analysis of courtyard siting,building insulation design, functional layout and separated by a space based on the ideaof Taoist Feng shui. Analyzes the orientation of the building, the height adjustmentrelations between neighborhood courtyard and vertical space adapt to the terraincourtyard on the point of folk customs. Analysis of creating artistic conception inJinzhong courtyard from the field of vision of Zen Aesthetics.The forth aspect, tradition can be as a resource, the auspicious culture what Jinzhongtraditional residential courtyards contained, in the new historical conditions and the newcultural context, unique-featurely separated and re-group, which is believed to havecultural value. Therefore, in this paper the author through the actual investigation, foundthat the status quo of Jinzhong modern building. By analysis of explicit and implicitexpression of auspicious cultural shown in Jinzhong local-style dwelling houses,summary of local characteristics and cultural characteristics, and combined with thecase experience to put forward the new insights according to the status quo with reference of large amounts of successful stories. In the image with symbolic concisesummary---to simplify, conclude and abstract; on the material with new technologiesand production methods, to develop local material. Return to attach importance to thecourtyard to create a "group" relationship between them.
