Study On The Industrial Urban Form Based On Morphogenesis In Its Central Area: Baotou

The typical modern industrial city in China, which is oriented by thedevelopment policy as well as to be promoted by the construction of major industrialprojects, the expansions of city is driven by the needs of industrial distribute. Theresearch on the spatial development pattern and the capacity of sustainabledevelopment has great significance and value on those industrial cities of the samekind. Baotou is a typical city, which is an important city subjected to the InnerMongolia autonomous region and meanwhile known as an industrial city in minorityarea.The dissertation takes the expansion and changed of urban form in landuse,traffic network and entire structure as the main aspect. As well as the method ofurban morphology to research the process of evolution of central area spatial ofmodern Baotou, in order to make a deliberate analysis on the process,characteristicsand influencing factors of Baotou’s urban form and to explore the relationshipbetween policy,social economy development and the urban form evolution.Summarized the trail of Baotou’s urban form evolution and try to provide the basismode of restructuring and development to the other industrial cities.This thesis focuses on the evaluation of Baotou’s central area spatial,which selectthe chronological events as the linkage between the development stages,such as theestablished of PRC,the end of culture revolution in1978and the beginning of reformand opening up,reconstruction after earthquake in1996,etc,so it can be divided intothree specific stages to make the process clearly.In first stage(1949-1978), Baotouformed the“one city-two town”pattern, most construction activities was around main national project; In second stage(1978-1996), local industry had spread over the urbanland, the improvement of living environment and the construction of residentialgroups were components of city interior space connotative update and regenerationstage; In the third stage(1996-2010), city’s industrial zone has expended to east andwest,a new town was built near major public facilities, such as the sports stadium.The central area are forming as a sort of new pattern, namely banding city with“multi-centre—and multi-cluster”.Then, the thesis analyzed the evolution of urban form in the view of the entirety,including the city spatial and functional characteristics, elaborated the process ofevolution of traffic network, the land use of industrial and residential, and final toreveal the spatial structure development mode with the methods of city morphologicalevolution.To the conclusion, it is analyzed the transition characteristics of the unbanstracture within the research period. Besides, it summarized the intend of Baotouurban form.and to make an extensive discussion on the selection critetion of wellshape of Baotou,which should be faced the chanllege with it newer developmentforming the future,the direction of the development of urban space and ecologicalenvironment construction as well as the implementation strategy.
