The excitation control system is the basic control parts of the power system, which is animportant guarantee for the reliable operation of the power system. As of the core unit of theexcitation control part, the quality of the excitation regulator is directly correlated to whether thepower system runs safely. The excitation regulator is generally adjusted and dynamically testedat site after completed with factory static testing and dynamic testing without matchingparameters to its control object and operating environment. Apparently, this test method isharmful for the generator as well as the power system. Therefore, the development of excitationdevice online-simulation test system, which processes advanced technology and stabilizedperformance, has an important practical significance.By applying the simplified model of the power system, namely, stand-alone infinitesystem, with Visual C++as development platform, and using the tools of Visual C++6.0, thetest system simulation software package including synchronous generators, excitation device andnetwork components are written, and then, the simulating calculation has done by using the testsystem simulation software package. Finally, the real-time state variable of generator feeds backto excitation adjuster, forming a closed loop control circuit of the generator-excitation regulator,which can control the voltage of power generator, reactive power, etc. Meanwhile, establishing adynamic link library between simulation software package and LabVIEW, and making advantageof the graphical software of LabVIEW to realize friendly human-machine interface, we canachieve online modification and real-time displaying generator parameters, excitationelectromotive force, network parameters, and other functions of data conveniently.Lastly, the simulation test and analysis of the excitation system has been done. The resultshows that: it is feasible to apply this system to the simulation test of the actual excitationadjuster, which has a great significance of improving the quality of the excitation regulator.
