IEC61850standard standardizes the communication behavior among theintelligent electronic devices in the intelligent substation and requirements of thesubstation automation system, and it realizes interoperability and information sharingamong products from different manufacturers in the intelligent substation. At present,a lot of traditional IEDs are still left in some old substation which don’t support theIEC61850standard, and communication protocol used in these traditional IEDs arenot identical, so it is obviously impossible to update these traditional IEDs whichdon’t support the IEC61850standard to the IEDs which support the IEC61850standard in a short time. Therefore, studying communication interface based onIEC61850standard becomes the best way of realizing seamless communication in theintelligent substation.First of all, this paper introduces the research background of the communicationinterface based on IEC61850standard, at the same time it elaborates somethingwhich are research and application, structure and technical characteristics, achievingprocess of IEC61850standard.Secondly, the structure and function of the integrated power system in theintelligent substation is discussed detailedly, and the structure and function of theintegrated power system are standardized according to method of engineeringdevelopment in the IEC61850standard. According to the requirements of informationmodeling of the integrated power system, the function of the integrated power systemare decomposed into AC power system, DC power supply system and UPS powersupply system.Thirdly, the information model of each power supply module of integrationpower system are modeled and the logical nodes in the information model are definedby myself in detail, configuration document for integration power supply system isedited by using ICDEditor tools. On the basis of IEC61850standard and theoreticalresearch of integrated power system in the intelligent substation, combined with the hardware platform UC-7122ce, C++is used to write program of communicationprotocol conversion interface between IEC61850and MODBUS based on operatingsystem.Finally, the communication test platform is set up, and the test experiment ofIEC61850communication protocol conversion is done by the use of a company’sUPS product, through the test of experimental platform and the analysis ofcommunication, the main functional requirements of the communication protocolconversion interface can be realized basically in this paper.The design proposed in this paper which is the IEC61850communicationconversion interface for intelligent substation integrated power system lays a certainfoundation for products’ promotion based IEC61850, and this design has goodapplication value in the process of changing the old station into the intelligenttransformation.
