IEC61850 is the best solution of the substation seamless communication. It realizes the interoperability among intelligent electronic devices by setting up a layered architecture, a unified object model and an abstract commutation service interface. At present, the situation of many different substation communication protocols makes it difficult to adapt the needs of development. It is necessary to take a scheme to unitize the protocol from the process level to the dispatch center. From the perspective of substation communication network with Ethernet architecture based on IEC61850, the factors which affect the real-time performance of substation communications network are achieved by analyzing the real-time of Ethernet. So this thesis devoted to the research on the implementation problem of IEC61850. Three aspects, i.e., the communication architecture based on IEC61850, the analysis and proposal of delay-non-determinism and the design scheme of communication controller which is used for converting traditional protocol to IEC61850, are researched systematically.In the thesis, the characteristics of data flow in communication network of SAS and the requirement of the network are analyzed based on IEC61850. After profound analysis of several factors that brings about the problem of delay-non-determinism, the impact of these factors is quantitatively analyzed by OPNET network simulator software. Embedded system design method is adopted in communication controller development. A new scheme of'encapsulation-type'communication controller based on IEC61850 is designed. By analyzing functional needs, software/hardware design project has been proposed. On hardware design, the controller is adopted S3C2410A as central processing unit. S3C2410A connects to Ethernet controller CS8900A and RTL8139C, CAN transceiver TJA1000 and so on. Software platform adopts embedded operating systemμclinux. Software design includes reducingμclinux system, developing drivers of CAN and Ethernet and so on. The thought of protocol conversion is elaborated. The program which converts the traditional power protocol to IEC61850 is designed. The management system of the communication controller based on Windows platform is also designed. Management system can conveniently connect to the communication controller with different kinds of connect mode, with which to achieve the config of protocol conversion files. This system can debug the controller with the model of packet capture.
