In the fields of ancient architecture protection,the archiving of date information isone of important contents.During the past dacades,the information are mainlydocumented by drawings, tables, words, images, ect. However, there aremany disadvantages among these archiving methods, such as heavy work, inaccuracy,abstraction, difficulty to look up,ect. The exploitation of BIM has offered us a newthought in the protection and restoration of ancient buildings.On the basis of analyzing the compositional system and construction forms oftypical ancient architectures,the research focuses on the BIM-based implementationtechnology of the parametric information model of ancient architecture components ofthe Ming and Qing Dynasty.The thesis are developed in the followings:1. Research on the compositional system and construction forms of typical ancientarchitectures. Modulus system and stereotyping are the basic characters of Chineseancient architectures of Ming and Qing.The architectural form includes grand style andminor style.The former moduled by tou-k’ou modules and the latter moduled by thediameter of eave columns.It exists some certain propotional and computual relationshipbetween the sizes of architecture components and parts. Strong hierarchy exists amongthe compoments, concrete shapes and the whole building.The research has clarified allthe components of gaint quantities in order to manage them better and nomalized all thecomponents’ sizes, which establishes the foundation for building the parametric modelof ancient buildings.2. Build the parametric model of ancient buildings’ components.The componentsare the most basic elements of ancient buildings. By analyzing basic geometricparameters, assembly parameters and specific formal parameters, we need to conclude the key parameters of the components and establish the propotional constraints. Then,build the data bases of propotional constraints and formation rules, which will be usedby the modeling function to build the3D model of the components.3. Research on the methods of adding additional information to the3D model ofancient architectural components. Information is restored as one part of the model anddirectly memorized in the graphic database. The lifecycle of information equals to thatof model, it can be read whenever you open the model. The research adopts extendingthe field information and amount of dictionary storage to realize the extension and beingset up.The users can not only add records but also fields information to the database.The model is drived by the information,it will be automatically drived to changeonce the relavant information changes.
