The current rural China is in a very dramatic periods of change. On one hand, withthe continuous improvement of the farmers’ living standard, farmers’ demand forhousing constantly enlarge, which lead to the major demolition and construction of ruralhouse of many areas. On the other hand, because of the implementation of governmentpolicy, farmers’ land-use patterns changed dramatically and intensification of landmakes the vast rural areas actively carry out large-scale planning and construction. Thecurrent rural residential structure is mainly brick structure. The building materials ismainly clay brick. But brick and concrete are non-renewable materials, whose waste arealso difficult to handle. The waste of construction resources causing by majordemolition and construction overwhelm the country for its large population and scarcityof land resources. So the construction of rural house need new technology. Steelstructure residence has the characteristics of green environmental protection. This is thefeasible way to meet the living demand of the rural China. Land intensification providesa possible for the steel structure housing in rural areas. The premise of promotion steelstructure housing in rural areas is standardization of space.The first chapter of the article introduces the research background. It shows thepurpose of the research, that is according to the countermeasure research of spacestandardization of rural house, the shortage of architectural design of the steel structurehousing in rural areas can be filled and provide technical support for the initialpromotion of the steel structure housing in rural areas in Shan’xi.The second chapter is the study of relevant theory. It shows the the concept andcontent of residential construction standardization and its development course. Then itanalyses the dialectical relationship of standardization and diversification of residentialconstruction. Through several case analysis of residential buildings standardization design, we can learn residential design method of standardization and diversification.The third chapter firstly sums up the traditional residential space layout features ofmiddle, south and north of shan’xi. Then after the on-the-spot investigation, we analyseand summarize the evolution of the spatial layout of the three regions rural house andpresent situation. For each space, we carry out functional layout and dimensions foranalysis. Finally, we found the adaptability requirement of different production way oflife of farmhouse space and variability requirement of change household population offarmhouse space.The fourth chapter is the the countermeasure research for space standardization ofsteel farm house. We should determine the type of features to meet the standardized unitof space in the specific modulus. And then we take diverse design which suitable forstandardization space in different region. Residential programs in the southern Shan’xiregion, for example, the design of the diversification of the standardization ofproduction and lifestyle space. Finally, we propose the solving strategy of meet thevariability requirement of family house in short and long period.
