As environmental issues increasingly become a big problem, the understanding andexpectations of design changes a lot. Green design and sustainable design emerge and developalong with it. In order to gain sustainability product, or to extend the life cycle of the product, wecan design for disassembly. Design for disassembly has important practical significance in thestrategy of reducing the environmental impact.The existing research on the product disassembly is relatively mature. Most of the scholarsinvolved in such research in favor of studying mechanical and engineering aspects. From theperspective of product design, there’re few studies about how to design the removable structure,pertinent research has not been done deeply and is also very limited in scope, so designers can’tdesigned by using such research of product disassembly.Firstly, this study investigates the current recycling status of household appliances, withdisassembling some typical household appliances such as range hoods. The study summarizesrelatively comprehensive removable structures and references other products’ structures forfurther improvement. With studying the theories of product life cycle and engineering, the studyanalysis impact of sustainable factors that affect the product removable structures along thevarious stages of the life cycle, uses these factors to value and sequence the removable structuresby the method of score evaluation. Finally, by surveying to the designers, the study summarizesthe processes and methods of household appliances structure design, apply precedingachievements to help the designers to get the optimum structure.This research timely expand the study field of the removable structure design methods, itcan supervise the designers to design product removable structures, promote the extension of theproduct life cycle, realize the sustainable design deeply and detailedly.
