Recently, the demand of coal transportation has increased largely because the global demand of coal increases and the resource distribution unbalances in the world. Therefore, it has great significance for the stable development of all over the world to ensure the circulation of the global coal resources in a reasonable, timely way. In addition, it,s also the responsibility to all major ports in many energy powers.This paper focus on port coal yard operation flow, optimizes the special coal yard operation system of Tianjin Port Coal Terminal Co.,Ltd.(TJMT for short), aims to explore the method of improving port coal yard operation system efficiency. According to the characteristics of the subject, system analysis, qualitative analysis and quantitative analysis method are adopted.First, this paper proposes the research background and significance of the subject, analyzes and summarizes the present research situation and significance of port yard optimization. Domestic and foreign scholars mostly concentrate on the optimization of port container terminal logistics system and container yard operation management, studies on optimization of coal port yard is relatively less. Then research content and research methods are put forward.Second, this paper introduces the related theory of port coal, the basic components of coal terminal, the process of coal terminal production handling and scheduling principle, these provide theory support for yard operation system modeling and simulation in this paper.Once again, this paper analyzes the coal yard operation flow and present management situation of TJMT port, proposes main problems existing in the yard operation flow, establishes mathematical optimization model for unloading operations, shipment assignments and yard reclaimer homework. Then defines yard operation system simulation element, sets element visualization and detailed definition logical, establishes simulation model according to the steps of witness simulation modeling.Finally, this paper sets model initialization parameter according to the actual coal yard operation data of TJMT port, operates simulation model many times and records the experimental results, analyzes the variation of several key indexes including the mechanical equipment utilization of yard system, the stock of yard coal pile and turnover rate and so on. Then puts forward implement recommendations for the coal yard operation optimization of TJMT port based on the experimental analysis report, which provide reference for future port management.
