The geometry, topology, and attributes of the geological objects can be represented and understood directly in3D spatial perspective by the technology of3d engineering geological modeling and visualization, which is based on the technology of computer and visualization, and is important for engineering decision and disaster prevention, so it has been the interdisciplinary frontier and hot point of geotechnical engineering science, geology, mathematics geology and information science. In this paper, these problems are concerned such as the integration of muli-source geological data, the complexity of geological bodies, the large amount of geological information, the high analysis demand, the reliability and rapid updating of3D model. Proceed from the theoretical analysis, combined with the geological database and catia and catia secondary development, the three-dimensional geological model of Water Resources and Hydropower Engineering is established. In this paper the main research is reflected in the following aspects:(1)Establish a database system for processing geological information, ensuring data collection, interpretation automatic extraction and the corresponding format conversion for3D geological modeling,which provides an effective means for management and maintenance of engineering geological information and an data support for the late3Dgeological modeling.(2) Combined with the geological database, the two-dimensional maps (drilling histogram)achieved automaticly.(3) Based on previous theoretical studies, the theoretical difficulties and key issues of the three-dimensional geological modeling are expounded in this paper. And the sources, formats and characteristics of the geological original data of hydraulic and hydroelectric engineering are analyzed. Combined with ideas and processes of catia modeling, author summed up the general methods and ideas of geological modeling, and introduced construction method of the ground surface,the formation of the interface,the fault plane and regolith. (4) Combined with the geological database, the process of the stratigraphic division and formation interface based on borehole data is developed, which is important for catia three-dimensional geological modeling. In this paper author proposes a simplified process that interface is built by using two-dimensional cross-sectional view.(5) Geological database and catia modeling software are used in Jinggangshan Hydropower Station for the actual on-site engineering data management as well as three-dimensional geological modeling and analysis, so as to validate the feasibility of the methods and ideas for the three-dimensional geological modeling, as well as practicality and science of system.
