A campus landscape environment is a place blended with a variety of culturalelements. Nice campus landscape can become the carrier to show the history andculture of the. Campus landscape environment not only directly affects the teachers’and students’ psychological feelings,the efficiency of their work and learning andcommunication, but unconsciously influences the formation of their outlook on lifeand view of nature.Campus construction is booming.In the construction of the campus landscape,however, many problems exist.The beauty of many newly-built campuses is only onthe surface lacking of vigor and vitality. There is too much "lost space" in thecampuses. Many campus squares and leisure scenic parts only serve as decoration,where few people reside and do activities. In addition, similar to the city landscape,university campus landscapes currently tend to idealize the high standards of designfor the excessive pursuit of the "new" and " odd " ornamental effect, which haveignored the university historical tradition, geographical features, cultural backgroundand social value orientation and have caused the lose of personality andcharacteristics of the campus, thus leading to the lose of its unique charm and soul. Inthe process of campus landscape designing, therefore, designers should not onlydisplay the overall image of the campus via their design, but also enable the campusesto show their own characteristics, to inherit their individual history and culture, andwhat s more, to pay more attention to teachers’ and students’ psychological feelings.Gestalt psychology is one of the main schools of modern Western psychology. Itsmain theories include holism, visual field, organization law, het erogeneousisomorphism, emphasizing the integrity of the perceptual experience and attachinggreat importance to the interaction between parts. It makes a remarkable contributionto the field of visual perception, bringing an impact to the research in the field ofaesthetics, art creation and landscape space. Can Gestalt psychology theory be appliedto the campus landscape designing, giving designers a whole new perspective and acreative source to solve the drawbacks of the campus landscape designing? The authorhas done this theoretical research and case investigation and analysis, thus bringing inthe coming out of the thesis hereby.Chapter I Introduction of the thesis theme. The introduction is mainly about the research background, the object of study and its significance, the researched item,research methods and the framework of the thesis.Chapter II Research objects. Introduction of the study background andexplanation of the theory in detail have been offered hereby from the aspects ofGestalt psychology and campus landscape designing. During the introduction of therelated Gestalt psychology theory, the thesis has analyzed the research status andresearch achievements of the campus landscape designing, and has summed up thelackage of campus landscape designing and given relevant recommendationsaccording to the investigation and analysis of the current situation of campuslandscape designing, thus concluding the value of Gestalt in the campus landscapedesigning.Chapter III Analysis of the problem. Based on the result of Gestalt psychologyresearch, the thesis has proposed three Gestalt principles and methods in the campuslandscape designing: the use of organizational law, the creation of the visual forcefield and the application of heterogeneous isomorphic theory. At the same time,analyzing and interpreting of instances about the campus landscape have beencontained herein.Chapter IV Combination of practice and theories. With the combination ofpractice and theories, re-analysis and interpretation of the actual items are conductedherein, and the analysis of the application of Gestalt principles are also carried out,thus bringing in practice afterthoughts.As the summary and supplement of the whole article, the concluding section putforward the inevitability of the inspection of the campus landscape designing from thepoint of view of Gestalt. Gestalt in this area is regarded as an effective guidingtheory, which is not inconsistent with other designing guiding theories. Meanwhile,the author hereof has openly pointed out the inadequacies of of this thesis, welcomingmore scholars to conduct more in-depth and meticulous research.The breadth of the study, expand the object of study of Gestalt psychology,Gestalt psychology in the campus landscape design theory and application; visualforce field in the campus landscape, organizational law in the depth of the study,analysis and constitutive theory allomerism. Hoping that this can be relatedresearchers in the field to provide new ideas, new perspectives, new visual.In the aspect of the width of the research, this thesis has enlarged the number ofthe possible objects to be analyzed with Gestalt psychology, and it has studied thetheories and application of Gestalt psychology in the campus landsc ape designing; In the aspect of in-depth research, it has analyzed the visual field of the campuslandscape, organization law and heterogeneous isomorphism theory. This thesis isexpected to offer new ideas, new vision as well as new angles for researchers in therelated fields.
