This article takes the sole-shape buildings'exterior shape as the main object of study.First chapter discusses"the sole-shape"in the conception, and makes a conclusion that"the sole physique"and"the uniform surface"is the essential condition which constitutes the sole-shape buildings. Second chapter analyzes the sole-shape buildings'theory origin from four aspects: 1, Adolf Loos: The decoration is evil; 2, Mies van der Rohes: Less is more; 3, Minimalism; 4, Vittorio·Magnago·Lampugnani: New Simplicity; Then, it analyzes the era's background of coming into being the sole-shape buildings from two aspects : culture and the technical.Third chapter analyzes the sole-shape buildings characteristic which carried on the different angles, and summarized it on five points:1st, the succinct explicit contour - - intense vision recognition,2nd, detail is faithful in the whole——the complex and precise concealing in the sole,3rd, special surface'structure——exploration buildings'surface on many kinds of aspects,4th, the three dimensional buildings'shape of non-facade——whole, self-integrity,5th, the exquisite fifth facade——the essential element to consummate the whole building.Fourth chapter analyzes a great deal of the representative sole-shape buildings and the architect's creation ideas in the base of the third chapter. Under the multiplex tendency at present, fifth chapter make some ponders of the sole-shape buildings in this tendency development as well as the sole-shape buildings'advantages and disadvantages, and analyzes briefly the exploration of the sole-shape buildings in our country.Finally, it presents several positions about the sole-form in the epilogue.
